We’ve all seen pictures of the slimy green algal blooms in Lake Erie, and we know it’s affecting our drinking water.  We know nutrient pollution is a contributing factor and is threatening many of our precious Great Lakes.What is perhaps more confusing is what’s being done about it.  Lots of work is going on at the federal, provincial and municipal level, but it can be hard to keep track of it all!  If you share our curiosity, join our sister organization, Freshwater Future Canada, for a webinar on Wednesday, March 4^th from 12:00pm – 1:30pm EST.  A series of presentations will provide a bird’s eye view of who is doing what on the Lake Erie algae issue.Speakers will include Susan Humphrey from Environment Canada (representing the Great Lakes Executive Committee Nutrients Annex Subcommittee); Cale Selby from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs;  Kevin Money from the Essex Region Conservation Authority, and Jill Ryan from Freshwater Future (US).  Each presenter will share what their organization is doing about algae and nutrients in Lake Erie, as well as their thoughts about the role for community groups in addressing algae blooms and water quality.   Learn what these organizations are doing to reach out to communities, and join in a discussion about how your group could be part of the solution.  Register today to reserve your spot!
