Your Feedback Used to Guide Freshwater Future Strategic Plan

Thanks to all of you that provided feedback on our recent survey to guide Freshwater Future’s strategic planning process. The Freshwater Future Board of Directors and staff met last weekend to set a course for our impactful work to support communities working to address drinking water issues in the coming years. We look forward to sharing the new plan with you in the coming months.


Invitation to Join White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council Meeting 

You are invited to the White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council’s (WHEJAC) virtual public meeting on Wednesday, November 30th through Thursday, December 1st to share recommendations to increase the Federal Government’s efforts to address current and historic environmental injustice through strengthening environmental justice monitoring and enforcement. The public meeting convenes on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from approximately 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time.  The WHEJAC meeting continues Wednesday, December 1, 2022, from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.  Members of the public who wish to participate during the public comment period must register by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, November 23, 2022. 

The public can register for the WHEJAC Public Meeting in two ways:

What’s in Your Tap Water? Try This Tap Water Database!

You can’t see, smell, or taste many drinking water contaminants. The Environmental Working Group has put together a comprehensive database of pollutants in Americans’ tap water. People can search their utilities by zip code or state to find out what contaminants are detected in their tap water. Visit this website to start searching: https://www.ewg.org/tapwater/


Wolverine Worldwide Receives Citation for Delay in PFAS Cleanup

Wolverine Worldwide, footwear manufacturer, polluted groundwater north of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Delays in the construction of a treatment system to remove PFAS have resulted in a citation by Michigan regulators. They now have until December 1st to submit a new plan that incorporates proposed design changes, or the state could pursue civil fines in court.
