Win! No Public Funds for Private Wastewater Systems
Thank you to everyone who sent messages asking a U.S. House committee to oppose for-profit wastewater systems from receiving public dollars. Because of you, members of Congress did not compromise the Clean Water State Revolving Fund program. Keeping public funds for publicly-owned utilities ensures that the money goes to the communities that need it the most rather than private corporations.
Your Year-End Gift is More Important Than Ever!

Your donation ensures that Freshwater Future has the resources to help communities working to keep water clean, safe, and accessible.

Canadian Cabinet Resignation Highlights Pattern of Limited Engagement with Indigenous Communities
From Ottawa to Ontario, the Canadian government is disregarding its own duty to consult with indigenous communities on regulatory and legal matters. Just recently, a federal cabinet member resigned in protest of the Prime Minister’s new deal to construct an oil pipeline without first consulting impacted indigenous communities. In Ontario, the Chiefs of Ontario have been sounding the alarm since the summer over inadequate consultation on regulatory and legal matters that aim to fast-track oil and mineral projects. Indigenous consultation is critical to ensure that mining, fracking, and other extractive projects do not impact the quality of residents’ source waters.
